All-on-4® Implants

The All-on-4® procedure is a type of implant procedure specifically designed for patients with limited bone density. Traditionally, patients with low bone density would not have the option to choose either dentures or dental implants. Dental implants require a certain amount of bone to be placed, whereas dentures do not.

The All-on-4 procedure means patients do not have to choose between dentures or dental implants. This new procedure utilizes both options and has been used for the last ten years. It is reporting a 98.5 percent success rate at the four year follow up.

This type of dental implant procedure uses just four implants, skillfully placed in areas of the jawbone where the bone density is at the best levels for a successful implant. This procedure does not typically require bone grafting, making it an ideal solution for patients who have low bone density.

Just before the procedure, Dr. Burton Melton will numb you to reduce discomfort. After being effectively numbed, four implants are placed into the jawbone in areas with optimal bone density. As soon as the implants are placed, a framework is created from a new or existing denture to create a set of temporary teeth that are attached the same day.

Following the procedure that places the implants into the jawbone, healing and fusion needs to take place. As soon as the fusion between the implant and your bone occurs, usually between three and six months, a final set of teeth are anchored into place for permanent use.
